During the campaign of grocery delivery to domestic violence victims during the COVID-19 crisis, Sikh Aware was contacted by an Indian woman with a 2 year old child who was in desperate need of accommodation and grocery. Sikh Aware arranged for her short term accommodation at a motel with assistance of some good samaritans while long term accommodation for her was sorted out. Once the woman and child were safe, she was provided a counsellor. Sikh Aware continued to provide her grocery for the duration of her stay in New Zealand. Sikh Aware with the assistance of Sukhmani Charitable trust also engaged with the Indian High Commission in Wellington which kindly consented to bear all the costs associated with their return to Delhi from Auckland.
